Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better known by her stage name of Ari Lennox, is an American musician and singer from Washington, D.C., who was the first woman to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. The label debuted her first album titled Pho in the month of October 2016 where she started to gain recognition. Shea Butter Baby her debut studio album came out on May 7th 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading her music on the internet back in 2012 after she dropped her first mixtape Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography In 2013. In 2014, Ari Lennox continued to post her music online as well as her own single Bound. In the year 2015, she performed in Omen's Elephant Eyes Album on Sweat it out on 21st July. J. Cole was interested in her talent and wanted to collaborate in conjunction with Rihanna. Her announcement to sign with Dreamville Records was made on the 8th of December. Backseat was the result of her participation to the Revenge of the Dreamers II album. On the 21st of October in 2016, her Pho EP was released. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performance for J. Cole on his track Change in 2017, and performed on 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018, Ari Lennox performed on two tracks with EarthGang, on Nothing but the Best, as well as Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th of July 2018 she released her debut single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. A music video for it was also released on September 5th. In November, she dropped the singles 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. On November 13 the singer released two new singles titled No One or Pdigree. Then she appeared as a guest on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on the track Shea Butter Baby on November 16th. She released the single on February 26, 2019, for her debut album of the same name. A music video debuted on 20 February 2019 to go along with the track. Within a period of a week, the video had more than 3 million views. In December of 2018 she performed on The From East Atlanta With Love Tour featuring 6LACK.
